Blue Knights NB II INC Motorcycle Show comes to Saint John in April
The Blue Knights Organization is unique, in that you must be a Law Enforcement Officer and own a motorcycle to be a member. In 1974 the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club was founded in Bangor, Maine. The Law Enforcement Officers who founded the Club shared a passion for motorcycling and were concerned about the bad image that the motorcycle represented. The Blue Knights are known as"the good guys" and are the opposite of the Outlaw Gangs. Their motto is "Ride with Pride".
The Blue Knights became International when NB l in Moncton became the first Chapter outside of the U.S. There are now over 20,000 members in 586 Chapters worldwide. The Saint John Chapter, NB all Inc was chartered in the spring of 1977 and has been very visible in the community since that time. The Saint John Chapter is comprised of over 30 members both active and retired from: Saint John Police Force; Rothesay Police Service; R.C.M.P; NB Dept Public Safety; Fisheries and Oceans; and Ports Canada Police NB ll organized the first Toy Ride in Saint John with the toys going to the Local hospitals. The members also formed a Precision Motorcycle Team that performed in Tattoo 200 1983,1984 and 1985.In 1979 the Saint John Chapter hosted the Annual Blue Knights International Convention with Blue Knights attending from all over North America
The Blue Knights not only enjoy motorcycling, they also work and raise funds for Charitable Organizations in their areas. Since 1974 the Blue Knights, world wide have raised over $5,000,000.00 for charities too numerous to mention. The Saint John Chapter over the past 30 years has raised funds for the following Charities: Children's Wish Foundation; Boys Adventure Camp; The Empty Stocking Fund; Christmas Daddies; Camp Sheldrake and Kids for Cops .NB ll hold two events each year for fund raising, a Motorcycle Trade Show and Poker Run.
The Annual Blue Knights NB ll INC Motorcycle Show is being held this year April 4, 5 and 6th at Exhibition Park, McAllister Dr Saint John. The show format is changing this year to include ATV's and other Recreational Products. We have seen a need to change the Show to include other products, but keeping motorcycles the main theme. The Motorcycle Dealers in the Saint John area have been very supportive of our Show. This year they were very interested in opening the show up, to include ATVs and other products they carried. With that there are a number of new entry's in the show .We hope to attract the other segment of the public that enjoy other activities including riding ATVs. The Show Bike part of the show is also changing this year. We are hoping to attract new entry's and have limited this part of the Show to 20 bikes. The first place winner will receive $1000.00, 2nd place $750.00 and third place $250.00...The best bike will be picked by the general public attending the show. If anyone requires information on Vendor displays and show bike entry's can contact 636-1615 or Email phaslett@nbnet.nb.ca. Further information on this years show and previous shows can be found on our Web Site @ www.blueknightsnb2.ca.
We are excited about this year's show and looking forward to it being our best one yet.
